VBS – Day 1

After the morning’s devotion by Pastor Edwin, Tuesday started off with an incredible presentation by the students. Beautiful songs sung in both English and Swahili, dancing, and various skits were performed by the students.

We then performed our own skit called “The Case of the Confusing Voices”, which had the theme of “Jesus is our Prophet – He speaks truth we can trust”. The animal tie-in was a rooster, which was about Peter’s denial, reminding us that Jesus’ words always come true.

The students were then treated to three break-out sessions, each with approximately 250 students. The team enjoyed sharing God’s love with the children—and even managed to survive having so many enthusiastic participants in their groups! As the pictures show, the children made good use of the supplies that you so generously donated.

Music – A selection of songs and dances from Grace’s summer VBS – including “The Power Shuffle” and “My Hope is in the Lord”. The children enthusiastically embraced the hand and body movements, much like our own VBS children did.

Recreation – Activities such as parachute, football and soccer, as well as jump rope. Dan and Doug P. were throwing footballs and kicking soccer balls, trying to catch multiple balls simultaneously.

Crafts – The children created rooster stained glass hangings, reminding them that “Jesus is our Prophet”.

We then spent the afternoon prepping, priming and painting around the campus, working on the SNE (Special Needs Education) classroom and work shop (more on the progress of these later).

I can’t imagine leading a VBS with that many kids – and the registration alone  ……Bless you all – enjoying your reports, and wish that I could be there, too!  Thank you for taking the time to let us know how you’re doing. Debbie Reynolds
